RAF Football

Our Mission Statement

The RAF Football Association (RAF FA) was formed in 1920 and is a County Level organisation, affiliated within the Football Association. The RAF FA provides structured opportunities to participate in football for all serving personnel and associated civilians, irrespective of age, colour and gender. 

The RAF FA headquarters at RAF Brize Norton, with its full-time staff, work with the Association’s Board of Trustees / Executive Committee, to address areas encompassing Coaching, Discipline, Refereeing, Communications & Sponsorship and Finance. The RAF FA manages football in line with the strategies and regulations of the Football Association.

The Royal Air Force field Representative Teams, including Men's Development (U23), Ladies, Men's Officers’ (Icarus FC) and Veterans. The Representative Teams compete in the Inter-Services against the Army and Royal Navy, as well as national competitions and friendly fixtures. Wider football participation is also promoted via Inter-Region and RAF Cup competitions, Service, Station and civilian football leagues. Nationally organised small sided competitions have helped the RAF FA with the transformation of RAF football.

The RAF FA’s plans and priorities are identified within the FA National Game Strategy. The Association is focussed on ‘Excellence’, ‘Participation’ and ‘Community’ and is committed to delivering a wide range of benefits to stakeholders who include coaches, referees, players, club officials, sponsors, Sports Board, Air Training Cadets and local populations. Our aim is to develop football, our personnel, and our organisation together.
